The government of the southern Chinese province of Hainan has presented a package of measures aimed at accelerating the development of medical devices with brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). The initiative should contribute to the formation of a new high-tech sector and strengthen the region's role as a center of innovation within the framework of the free trade port project.
The program includes several key areas: the development of industry standards, support for innovative companies, stimulating local research and promoting the clinical application of technology. The authorities also plan to speed up testing, introduce new solutions, and provide companies with expert support and simplified product registration procedures.
Special attention was paid to the creation of a BCI standardization working group with the participation of universities and enterprises, as well as the development of the Leheng Medical Innovation pilot zone, where clinical technology tests will take place. Additionally, measures are provided to protect personal data, manage risks, and provide insurance support for developments, which should attract investment and strengthen Hainan's position as a technology cluster.
